Thanks to all our performers, audience members, loyal listeners and partners for making Season Two of Tennessee Shines a great success! The live show is going on hiatus, but in the meantime you can listen to WDVX to hear performances from past shows rebroadcast on Mondays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 1 p.m. It’s a great way to revisit your favorite memorable moments from the show! We’re pleased to announce the complete line-up for July 28! In addition to Tim O’Brien and The John Cowan Band, banjo player Alison Brown and The Dismembered Tennesseans will join The John Hartford Stringband, for their performance of songs from the Compass Records release Memories of John. This show will rival every other edition of Tennessee Shines, so don’t miss it!

We’re eager to announce who will play our next show on July 28 very soon, but in the meantime we wanted to let you know that after July’s show, we’re going on hiatus. We rocked Bonnaroo!

We hoped you tuned in to WDVX on the Friday of Bonnaroo to hear great string music broadcast live from That Tent! We enjoyed performances by Punch Brothers featuring Chris Thile, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Hot Rize, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. And despite the heat, our host Jim Lauderdale was cool as a cucumber, introducing bands and encouraging the crowd to make some noise for the folks back home. WDVX’s Don, Tony and Katie ran a tight ship backstage, keeping the live broadcasting equipment cool and happy in the makeshift studio. Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen! The eagerly awaited schedule for Bonnaroo 2010 was announced this week. Take a look at the bands playing That Tent on Friday, June 11. Punch Brothers featuring Chris Thile, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Hot Rize, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Steve Martin & The Steep Canyon Rangers…. Sense a theme? It’s the Tennessee Shines stage! For one day only, Bonnaroo fans will revel in the kind of rootsy, grassy music we celebrate every month on Tennessee Shines. Bonus: Jim Lauderdale will host the stage, and performances will be broadcast live on WDVX. If you’re on site in Manchester, come by and say hello. Rawlings and his eponymous Dave Rawlings Machine earned the most nominations with four nods in the Americana Music Awards 2010 Honors & Awards for his latest release, A Friend of a Friend. May’s line-up announced

We’re gearing up for the May 26 show which features some return guests and new twists. Cherryholmes undoubtedly blew some minds with their red-hot bluegrass when they last played the Tennessee Shines stage. They’ll be returning along with songwriter Darrell Scott, who helped us launch the show in August 2008. Both groups will have some new tunes to share from their forthcoming releases. Plus, we’re excited to have our host extraordinaire Jim Lauderdale bring a full band to play songs from his new CD, Patchwork River, due out May 11. We can confirm rumors that they’re in the studio laying down tracks to their follow-up to Whiskey Angel, but when can we get that new disc in our greedy little hands?
