A film with a superb Americana soundtrack is up for three Oscars! Crazy Heart stars Jeff Bridges (nominated for Best Actor) as boozy and aimless songwriter Bad Blake, who finds a friend and a second chance in a journalist played by Maggie Gyllenhall (up for Best Supporting Actress). The movie’s theme song, “The Weary Kind,” by Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett, is up for Best Song and fills out a soundtrack that also features Buck Owens, Waylon Jennings, the late Steve Bruton and more.
